Antimicrobial Discovery and Biobanking Workshop Report
| Description | The areas of synergism for future collaborations in AMR and biobanking between the University of Ghana and NBIC partners were identified and a public report on this published. This has lead to further funding from FCDO for a researcher from Ghana to carried out an AMR relevant research project at the University of Nottingham as a way to initiate exchange of researchers between the two countries. There has also been joint engagement on social media discussions on the key areas of the workshop to increase the global awareness. |
| Exploitation Route | NBIC is currently working with the University of Ghana on grant applications for further funding to expand the collaborative work already initiated. This will be of benefit to both UK and Ghana researchers. |

| Results and Impact | This workshop brought together researchers and industry representatives from the UK and Ghana to establish a new partnership between the UK's National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC), the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) and the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) in Ghana to address biofilm-related challenges within areas of biobanking and antimicrobial discovery. The workshop enabled the understanding of the expertise, facilities, technologies, and capabilities available through each centre (NBIC, WACBIP and NMIMR) and scope out opportunities for future research collaborations. |
