The Mechanism of Cell Cycle Repression in Tubers

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sheffield
Department Name: Animal and Plant Sciences

Abstract

The project aims to provide fundamental knowledge on the mechanism of how CIPC influences the cell cycle and, as a result, identify new targets for controlling potato tuber sprouting. This will be achieved by a combination of functional analyses and transcriptomic analysis. The project aims to produce a list of cell division related genes that can be used as markers for CIPC- responsiveness. This will allow breeders to select for CIPC sensitivity and provide the foundation for biochemical and genetic studies to identify novel targets for sprout inhibition
