Luminescent Mechanically Chiral Molecules

Abstract

This ERC funded project focusses on the synthesis and properties of mechanically chiral molecules with embedded fluorophores in order to determine whether the chiral mechanical bond will lead to interesting chiroptical properties. Federica will synthesise a series of chiral luminescent rotaxanes and study their photophysical properties. The long term application of this research is in the development of new luminophores for applications in sensors and OLED devices.
