Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

"The Caenorhabditis elegans genome sequence has had a huge impact on molecular genetics, driving forward both C. elegans research and functional genomics in animal systems. This progress depends on a core of genomic sequence resources and also on informatics, in the form of the model organism database WormBase. The proposed programme will (a) ensure the continuing development and utility of WormBase, in particular the sequence-based resources including the gene annotations and their association to large scale functional genomics data, in coordination with WormBase collaborators and NIH funding, and (b) update the primary genomic clone resource by end sequencing 20,000 fosmids from a new library, which will then be transferred to MRC geneservice for distribution."
