The Application of Digital Forensics and Machine Learning to Automatically Detect and Flag Modified Online Terrorist Propaganda

Abstract

In collaboration with Tech Against Terrorism: Criminology frameworks will be utilised to understand/analyse the meaning/significance of terrorist narratives/imagery, and Computer Science to identify applications used by terrorist groups/sympathisers to modify content to evade detection - to advance understanding of terrorists' use of online spaces and propaganda dissemination strategies, to inform efforts to develop tools to detect content that has been modified to evade detection.
