Exploring public perception of a graduate police force

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: Criminology

Abstract

With the imminent introduction of the PEQF's proposed entry routes into UK policing, this research could establish important 'stakeholder' concerns and attitudes. Results from this research would inform the College of Policing aobut public receptivity towards a graduate police force. Research would aim to establish whether public opinion varies by demographic (i.e. race/ethnicity, soci-economic status, sexual preference, gender, age etc.) and could explore aspects such as police legitimacy, public confidence in the police and police engagement.
