Reactions without walls: Droplet Reaction Module for rapid chemical synthesis (DReaM)

Lead Research Organisation: Imperial College London
Department Name: Chemistry

Abstract

Multiphasic reactions are typically very challenging to control and scale-up. Typically, high temperatures and pressures are needed, which consumes energy that has a negative impact on the sustainability and safety of the process. In this project, we will design and construct a novel flow reactor for multiphasic reactions, particularly liquid-liquid and liquid-gas systems, which can be operated under moderate reaction conditions. The reactor will initially be used for oxidation reactions, and can be expanded to other types of reactions.
