Delivering Green Hydrogen

Lead Participant: Q-FLO LIMITED

Abstract

Q-Flo's technology reduces environmental impact by using waste heat to convert fossil or bio-fuels into clean hydrogen and a commercially viable solid carbon product. It offers a profitable route to decarbonise foundation industries while providing clean energy and carbon capture without environmentally damaging emissions.

This project will deliver an industrial scale demonstrator which uses technology developed at the University of Cambridge to capture waste heat from a glass making process to convert methane (natural or biogas) into green hydrogen and a light weight solid nano-structured carbon product for use in the manufacture of electric vehicles. The demonstrator will also confirm the ability to convert waste gas from steel production into clean hydrogen and sequestrated carbon.

The demonstrator is co-located with the Glass Futures pilot manufacturing facility at St Helens in Lancashire.

Success will allow UK scale-up increasing the energy efficiency of the Foundation Industries and anchoring this environmentally positive, new product manufacturing technology in the UK.
