Abstract
Evolutor uses its next-generation technology platform to transform how we harness evolution to generate advanced microbes that can accelerate the bio-industrial revolution.
It's well known that microbes are important in the manufacture of goods like beer and cheese. Here, yeast and bacteria produce the vital ingredients of alcohol in beer and curds and whey in cheese. But the potential of microbes is far more powerful than this. There are millions of microbial species in nature that all have the potential to be harnessed for the production of innovative and economically valuable products.
Using microbes as industrial biological factories unlocks exciting possibilities for innovative and futuristic products like self-healing fabrics and photosynthesizing building materials. It also allows for common goods like aviation fuel, bio-degradable plastics and meat proteins to be produced in a way that is significantly more sustainable and circular than current manufacturing norms. With microbes, we can greatly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and single-use non-degradable products as well as our need for huge amounts of agricultural land and finite resources. This paradigm shift towards a green and circular economy is at the core of the bio-industrial revolution.
