Virtual Sports Coaching with Individualised feedback

Lead Participant: DINETIC LTD

Abstract

Demand for individualised player profile analysis and AI in sport is set to increase (CAGR 30.3% 2020-2030 -- Allied Market Research, 2021). The use of data and AI in sports is not a new concept and is rapidly being adopted by all major clubs and athletes to better analyse, optimise and organise every aspect in the field of sports. To gain a competitive edge over their opponents, athletes and management are required to gather as much information about individuals and team performances as possible, including early identification of talent for recruitment. Additionally, the financial and performance burden of injury can prove to be devastating costing on average £800K per club per annum (Cricket).

Sports coaching has changed significantly over the last 10 years and some elite clubs and athletes are already using some form of video analysis as part of their training regime. However, due to the size, and cost of the equipment plus the lack of skilled experts, this provision is often limited to premier players. Although new AI and computer vision solutions are continuing to enter the market, they are still lacking in some key functionalities that we have proven to be critical for coaches and players to achieve optimum performance.

Dinetic's approach uses a combination of accessible smartphone-based computer vision, science-based biomechanical analysis benchmarked against leading sports data and state-of-the-art AI to provide calculated, relevant and instant feedback to coaches and players. This process is low-cost, accessible and scalable to a global market across multiple sports offering significant, tangible benefits in player performance and injury risk prevention but also improving wider sporting engagement and enjoyment through access to elite quality coaching at all levels and connecting coaches and players from across the world. This project scales our current MVP to sector capacity level, secures first customer sales and creates the platform for further investment.

The business potential is significant, with the software component of AI in the sports market forecast to be worth $12.74bn by 2030, with sales in the Cricket market alone projected to reach $4.37Bn in that time. (Allied Market Research, 2021)

The innovation and project are timely. Dinetics technology can offer significant individualised performance and injury prevention improvements, while also delivering a platform that is scalable, accessible and affordable for all levels of the sport.
