eXtra Performance Wing - Beta (X-Wing Beta)
Lead Participant:
AIRBUS OPERATIONS LIMITED
Abstract
The Airbus X-Wing Beta project will manufacture, deliver and validate, in flight test, a demonstrator of a new wing concept that will reduce CO2 emissions and block fuel towards Airbus journey for zero-emissions aircraft.
The wing will embody active control technologies enabling ultra-high span wings that provide a significant performance benefit through loads and weight reduction, and aerodynamic optimisation applicable to conventional propulsion or as an enabler for zero emissions aircraft. The wing will be exposed in the future to real operation conditions in flight test, to validate its performance benefits.
