Abstract

Locblock turning a **plastic and non-recyclable textile waste** **issue** into a **housing solution**.

Locblock is a new 'fire rated structural composite block construction system' with smart features built-in:

* Safe- Structurally designed to be simple, strong and a robust alternative to masonry, metal, or timber framing.
* Guaranteed performance- Locblock will gain a British-Board-Accreditation (BBA) providing tested and independent performance. This will prove the systems fire-safety/structural-loadings/improved U-values/airtightness/acoustic/thermal-performance. Through advanced-manufacturing processes Locblock provides a built-in performance while eliminating human error and installation errors.
* Cheaper energy bills- Locblock will provide lower running costs through reduced heat loss, reduced condensation, improved comfort and ultimately reduced carbon emissions.
* Service ducting built-in providing service routes and removing unsightly boxing in or surface fixed services.
* Fire safety- Locblock will redefine how structural polymers should be applied in the construction industry. Creating a new building system that addresses fire safety at the construction phase to conform with HSG168 by reducing fire loads, through to occupation by obtaining an independently tested and proven fire rated system.
* Construction costs- Locblock is so simple to erect, it will become the 'building for dummies' construction system - like building blocks are for children, Locblock is for adults. A fast simple installation, that does not require highly trained personal, addressing the growing skills shortages, whilst reducing the construction labour costs. The results are cheaper overall costs compared to tradition systems.
* Improved productivity- Locblock will mean more houses are built every year, not only does Locblock allows for quicker onsite installations compared to traditional systems, as it can be installed in adverse weather conditions, windy, wet, cold days do not affect the installation, nor does it require power tools, so less down time, compared to masonry bricks and blocks.
* Going green -- Not only diverting waste away from our landfills and oceans. Locblock takes non-recycled textile waste, which is causing massive problems to the environment, then through advance manufacturing, converts the textile waste into a fire resistant-acoustic and thermal part of the block, creating a sustainable, circular economy. So, while buyers are getting a cheaper, better performing house, they are also saving the planet!
