Digital inclusion Sustainability Environment (DISE)

Abstract

The DISE project addresses two key challenges for transforming the uptake of digital services -first, the creation of a sustainable business model for the provision of a managed IP network service and second, a new applications platform to provide IP services bundled with mainstream content. DISE combines the network services and IPTV compliant applications to generate micro revenues for delivering a sustainable managed service. DISE’ vision is to combine a “killer application” in IPTV complementary media with a new, network revenue model to transform the delivery and uptake of internet services in disadvantaged communities. DISE will trial its microbilling service on around 100 users. The impact of the project will be an increase in Internet use within communities where access levels are currently low. Revenues will be generated from private, third and also public sector organisations which require a sustainable model for providing digital inclusion and communication, opening avenues for significant cost savings and more effective service delivery. The project offers considerable commercial scalability and opportunity as it could be delivered into any similar communities.
