Transforming the Role of Simulation in New Product Development
Lead Participant:
SIMPACT ENGINEERING LIMITED
Abstract
This project will both transform the accuracy and communication of impact simulation, optimising transient models through correlation with real world geometric and high speed video data, and develop novel and innovative methods for visualising and interacting with simulation outputs. This will significantly improve confidence and understanding in end users, making the outputs accessible to a wider audience and maximising CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) value in product development.
CAE is often undervalued and seen as an avoidable cost due to lack of confidence in results and inability of customers and management to fully understand simulation outputs. This project will address both of these issues, demonstrating outcomes by embedding CAE solutions in a high value manufacturing (HVM) business with potential to add further value across a range of HVM sectors.
