Abstract

My research project is an in-depth study of the impact Dante Alighien's work of the traditions which flourished in the Middle Ages around the biblical writings and the figure of King Solomon. The main aims of my investigation are; a) to examine the ways in which Dante appropriate biblical text, and the strategies that he devised to emulate the biblical authors and achieve status comparable to theirs; b)to prove that throughout his intellectual career and medieval Solomon tradition offered Dante a model of erotic that could aspire to reveal eternal truths.
