ICMetric Cloud Security Software

Cloud based computing is now the fastest growing sector within the IT sector. As more data about people and companies is held in the cloud security issues are becoming a great concern. Currently encryption technology is used to secure data but this has a major vunerability as the encryption keys are stored and can therefore be lost or stolen thus comprimising the data that is held. Metrarc is a Cambridge based university startup that has developed a highly novel technology for deriving encryption keys directly from the operating characteristics of digital systems without having to store the encryption keys, a technology termed ICMetrics™. In this project, the Company will estabish the feasibility of developing the existing hardware based ICMetrics technology to operate in a software environment in order to efficiently verify the authenticity of cloud based services without any user interaction and without the requirement to store any encryption key.
