Sensor distributed network for Corrosion Under Insulation monitoring in smart infrastructures

Lead Participant: CORROSION RADAR LIMITED

Abstract

CORROSION RADAR (CR) LIMITED strives to be a global leader in remote sensing technologies and advanced analytics systems for smart infrastructures. Monitoring the Corrosion and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) that can cause catastrophic failures and major downtime for many sectors, are the main focus of the company. Most of the current practise use spot measurement techniques and heavily dependent on limited data and risk management. The key technical innovation behind CR is the breakthrough sensing network that is capable to detect and monitor corrosion in inaccessible areas. The sensor is permanently installed alongside to any complex structure adding corrosion intelligence to it. The key business innovation is in the application of this sensor system for remote detection of CUI; addressing an unmet need in the energy sector. A prototype has been produced and tested under laboratory conditions. The aim of this project is to validate the CR technology in operational conditions as a first step before the field trials. The primary mission of the CR technology is to reduce maintenance cost without compromising on the safety of people, assets and environment. This will also lead to reducing downtime and can equally be applied to many sectors such as Oil & Gas, renewables and nuclear.
