Cell Chamber Market Research

Lead Participant: PLANER PLC

Abstract

The project is to assess the commercial viability of our ideas for a next generation of cell
culture chambers used by laboratories for the storage, maintenance and development of cells
and cultures and the animal, research and human in vitro fertilisation and embryology
markets. These types of incubators are essential tools for providing a controlled stable
environment for the maintenance and growth of microbiological cultures and specimens and
as such, they are in everyday use in laboratories around the world. Planer plc has successfully
competed in this market place for a number of years and our devices sell well (including
overseas to a large extent), but in order to maintain our competitive position, secure new sales
and grow the company, we need to develop new products with additional features and
functionality to meet the needs of a sophisticated client base. This project will enable us to
assess the validity and likely market acceptance of substantially new design ideas. We need to
test responses to our early concepts and understand better how end users would operate such a
device in practice - and what additional features and benefits they would expect us to provide.
Following the collection and analysis of this data we will be able to develop the initial design
parameters and costs that will enable us to determine likely price points, and thus the
commercial viability of our ideas.
