Prototype fuel cell powered UAV
Lead Participant:
ADELAN LIMITED
Abstract
This project is to research improvements in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) required for new applications.
The objective is to study microtubular SOFCs in the 200W power range for use in portable platforms where batteries cannot operate for long enough.
The tubes will be stacked and integrated into a small, lightweight generator platform, then bench tested before operation in the field.
Several UK partners are collaborating in this 2 year R&D programme, including the University of Birmingham, and the work is linked to 7 other organisations in the EU.
