Validating a novel, highly-efficient higherorder LES flow solver

Abstract

Cambridge Flow Solutions has developed a novel, highly-efficient algorithm that offers speedups of up to a factor 100 relative to currently available LES computational fluid dynamics solvers, whilst delivering simulations that have a higher order of accuracy and yet require much less memory, enabling them to be run on more readily accessible machines. This novel algorithm now needs to be tested and validated on widely recognised and relevant, “realworld”test cases that will demonstrate its benefits to a broad range of industrial sectors. The project is short and straightforward, and involves the assembly of a highly-parallel computing cluster based on Intel Xeon Phi cards, on which large simulations using the novel algorithm
are then run. The results from the tests will be reported and disseminated, providing an opportunity for feedback from industry.
