Title Theatre, Intimacy & Engagement
Description In 2007 I completed a 300 page monograph work Theatre, Intimacy & Engagement: The Last Human Venue. The AHRC awarded me £10,000 to support the further dissemination of the Award outcomes. In the first instance between 2008 and 2010 I engaged in a sequence of high profile performance and practice as research events within which the volume was a springboard for artistic engagements and acts. The book provided the framework for the development of new performance spaces at King's College London including The Anatomy Museum and Theatre which opened in 2010 to the public. In September 2013 the prestigious Homo Novus Festival in Riga, Latvia, curated by Gundega Laivina chose The Last Human venue as their organising theme. I was invited to the festival to work with ten artists who submitted and staged work under this umbrella. The original AHRC grant which supported an increased image profile for the book was essential in creating the context for this later artitic interest.

Impact The performance, space and curatorial legacy of the book has been secured in the period between 2008 and 2010 thanks to the AHRC commitment.

Description This grant took the form of a dissemination award. What that means is that a previously developed research output was reframed and distributed more widely for a more accessible public audience. In this instance it amounted to a contract with the publishers Palgrave Macmillan who agreed the inclusion of a number of 'user friendly' tools in the publication Theatre, Intimacy & Engagement.
Exploitation Route The findings of this work have already been taken up broadly within the academic and research community amongst theatre and performance specialists. Since the publication there have been numerous events that have centred on related questions of radical inclusion, participation, object ontologies etc that were developed in this work.
