Description | Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing or WAAM is more resource efficient as compared to CNC milling and Forging. WAAM is a cleaner process and causes less human toxicity than the other two processes due to less human contact. However, WAAM has a higher ecological burden compared to CNC Milling which is mostly coming from the use of Ar gas. WAAM reduces 27.5% materials waste than CNC milling for making the aerospace Blisk. Forging is suitable in mass production than merely produce a spare part on demand. |
Exploitation Route | For other companies aiming to identify which manufacturing processes may contribute to environmental impact. |
