Avian oncogenic viruses recent advances on diagnosis, prevention and control
in Journal of Indian Veterinary Association, Kerala (JIVA)
Description | Organized an International workshop on "Recent concepts in the diagnosis and control of avian oncogenic viruses" during 19th and 20th August, 2010 at Madras Veterinary College, Chennai under the project on "Marek's disease and RNA interference to control avian viral disease". Dr.A.Raja, Associate professor, Department of Animal Biotechnology, Madras Veterinary College attended a ten days training programme on 'Generation of BAC infectious clone library of Marek's disease virus at the Institute of Animal Health, Compton, UK from 18th to 30th October, 2009. The knowledge gained through the training helped in getting a Department of Biotechnology, Govt.India sponsored project on 'Loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technique for rapid detection of Marek's disease virus in feather samples'. The knowledge gained through exchange visits, training and workshop discussions has helped in writing and submission of a full proposal on 'Improving control of major diseases of poultry' to BBSRC-DBT funded programme. |
