Results and Impact | BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) is one of the nine organisations that makes up UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), and is the UK funding body for the MACSUR SciPol project. Food & Farming Futures Ltd is a UK charity, which focuses in thought leadership & knowledge exchange for UK Agri food. MACSUR SciPol is a pilot exercise initiated by the Joint Programming Initiative for Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) to bring science and policy actors together for the strategic design of responses to climate change adaptation and mitigation challenges in the Agri-food sector in Europe. Following the success of the 'UK Agri-food: Road to NetZero' workshop held on 30/09/21, the UK MACSUR team will once again bring together our agri-food sector for a physical workshop held on Tuesday October 8th (2022) at the Royal Society, to scrutinise the two primary approaches to sustain our agri-food sector and to achieve net zero: (1) sustainable intensification and (2) regenerative agriculture. The workshop began with deliveries from world-leading academics/scientists on the challenges of both sustainable intensification (SI) and regenerative agriculture (regen) in specific contexts. This was followed by a series of panel discussions scrutinising Defra's two principle Key Policy Questions for both approaches. |
