Role of T cells in recovery from bluetongue virus infection in calves

Lead Research Organisation: THE PIRBRIGHT INSTITUTE
Department Name: UNLISTED

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

The aim of this project is to determine the role of T cells in controlling BTV infection in calves. This will be achieved by determining the effects of depletion of specific T-cell subsets on BTV infection in cattle. The information obtained will provide the basis for future studies to determine the extent to which T-cell subsets important in mediating virus clearance are cross-reactive for different BTV serotypes and will aid the development of strategies for priming of the appropriate protective T-cell responses.
