Flowering in grasses

Lead Research Organisation: Aberystwyth University
Department Name: IBERS

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

Flowering is a very important part of the plants life cycle and its control is a major factor in the evolution of perenniality and of outbreeding. Grasses are an excellent ‘system’ for these studies. We will use approaches to finding the key genes involved that have been used successfully with respect to human disease and will complement these with knowledge translated from model plant species, Arabidopsis and rice.
