UK-Japan Industrial Sustainability Project

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: Engineering

Abstract

The aim of this project is to review current academic interests and industrial practices in industrial sustainability in Japan. A small group of UK academics with interests in manufacturing sustainability will undertake a visit to Japan to hold a workshop with leading Japanese academics and industrialists and to make visits to examples of leading practice. The output will be used to inform the EPSRC and the wider academic community about the landscaping of industrial sustainability in Japan and opportunities for research collaboration.

Planned Impact

The impact of this project is primarily to inform the EPSRC in their development of policy towards research in industrial sustainability. It will also identify opportunities for collaboration with Japan. Finally it will be available to institutions and individual academics who might wish to develop closely links in the field with Japanese partners.
