Newton Fund - Membrane material testing & modelling for urban transformations, sustainability & efficiency
Lead Research Organisation:
Newcastle University
Department Name: Civil Engineering and Geosciences
Abstract
The proposed project will represent a completely new collaboration established as a result of common interests and research in the same subject. The Brazilian partners have developed a method for constitutive relations for new materials and the UK partners have the expertise in experimental analysis and constitutive material modelling. The partnership will promote the improvement of technologies for membrane structures and offer novel solutions for transformable urban spaces.
Planned Impact
The project is a research partnership and, therefore, has intrinsic impact. Two workshops are also planned during the project, with one to be held in the UK, and one in Brazil. The workshops will be designed to appeal to both researchers and Engineering companies.
