Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description Discoveries The main objectives of this network grant were to facilitate interactions between Representation Theory--a vibrant area of Mathematics--and other areas of Mathematics and beyond, such as Geometry, Number Theory and Theoretical Physics, and to facilitate collaborations with our partner networks in France and Germany. Through a range of activities (research visits, workshops and research schools aimed at early-career researchers), these objectives were met. In particular, new collaborations were formed at research events (although it is a bit too early to have a long list of concrete research publications), and researchers in other areas and early-career researchers had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in Representation Theory. We note that this network was affected by the pandemic and some activities had to be scaled down. For instance, one of the large workshops planned at ICMS could not happen. However, the network operated again as normal in 2023, supporting many events.
Exploitation Route The long-term benefits of this network grant, and impact on other areas, will take longer to assess. However, by providing researchers in various areas of Mathematics and beyond with the latest techniques in Representation Theory, it will have a deep impact in the longer run. The network has also allowed to keep strong connections with our partner networks in France and Germany, and this will undoubtedly benefit PhD students and Research Assistants in the UK who, through the connections established, may find the next step of their research career in one of these countries.
