Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

| Description | Direct printing of different 2D material inks is possible on to side-polished optical fibres. These deposited layers can also be protected against environmental degradation using a layer of protected materials. However, the nonlinear optical effects measured through evanescent field interaction was significantly weaker than what was anticipated based on published literature data. This could be due to the nature of the materials or the deposited thinfilms, which are fundamentally porous in nature. |
| Exploitation Route | Yes. We are investigating how the deposited materials on to D shaped fibers can be used as highly sensitive chemical and environmental sensors through optical resonance enhancements. |
