Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description | The proposed fellowship allowed me to build on my PhD research in three major ways. First, I disseminated my research to a wider audience via publications and conference presentations, both in the UK and internationally. This audience included professionals such as clinical psychologists and special needs teachers, as well as members of the academic community, so that the project could filter down to influence therapeutic and educational policy. Secondly, the fellowship allowed me to plan and secure funding for the next stage of my research in which I moved on to working with young children with more severe autism in an intervention study. Finally, the fellowship provided me with the further training I needed to continue my academic career, both in the use of practical tools for research and in teaching. |
Exploitation Route | My findings have been widely cited in the academic community and contributed to our understanding of the development of autism spectrum disorder. In my own work, I have since created a technology based intervention drawing on my previous findings and translatiing them to a clinical application. |

Description | I am not aware of examples of specific impacts of my research undertaken during this grant. however my findings do contribute to our understanding of autism, and have been disseminated directly and indirectly to parents, practitioners and other members of the autism community. This means that this kinwledge may be having unknown impact in education, clinical and community practices. |
