Technical Summary

The MRC is pleased to confirm additional funding from the Global Challenges Research fund for the MRC Unit, The Gambia. This award provides resource to support;

• your unit in the efforts of managing the impact and activities during the COVID crisis up.

• the procurement of and installation of oxygen concentrators.
 
Description This funding allow the Unit to manage the COVID-19 crisis in The Gambia. We were able to open a section of our clinical services to COVID-19 patients and provide clinical care. Moreover, we were able to train health staff in public health facilities on the management of these patients. We set up the diagnostic facilities for COVID-19 in the Unit and extend the diagnostic facilities to the National Public Health Laboratories, of the Ministry of Health.
Exploitation Route We supported the Ministry of Health during the COVID-19 epidemic in The Gambia.
