Results and Impact Poster presentation at the Reef Conservation United Kingdom (RCUK) Conference that took place in 'Dynamic Earth' in Edinburgh (2021). Title of the poster was "One on top of the other; how hidden structural heterogeneity enhances the biodiversity of cold-water coral reefs'. My poster presentation presented for a first time to a wide audience (post-graduate students, general public, coral-reef researchers) the habitat-cascades phenomenon in biogenic habitats and especially how this phenomenon enhances the biodiversity of cold-water coral reefs. The findings shown in that poster suggested that the impacts of climate change / ocean acidification on cold-water coral reefs (key benthic ecosystems) may be more severe than previously thought. More than 50 students/members of the wider public visited my stand asking 1) which are the major species that drive the 'habitat cascades' phenomenon, 2) how widespread is this phenomenon, 3) how climate change may affect the 'habitat cascades' phenomenon and its role in the structure and functioning of key benthic habitats. There was a clear enthusiasm from students and the wider public about the phenomenon, especially due to the fact that there are analogues with the role of epiphytes in tropical rain forests. The findings presented in my poster increased public awareness about the negative impacts of climate change and the need to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions.

Results and Impact Sebastian Hennige was the leading editor on the CBD report, which he presented with Carol Turley at the UN Convention on Biological Diversity meeting in South Korea. This led to vast press coverage globally. 165 websites have been identified to date that provide information on CBD Technical Series 75 "An updated Synthesis of the Impacts of Ocean Acidification on Marine Biodiversity", as launched at Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea, on 8 October. Of these websites, 52 can be considered to have very high impact, based on global ranking (in top 10,000), and 30 of high impact (in top 100,000). There are also 68 other websites featuring information on the publication, excluding those hosting the press release and those of UN bodies.
These websites are hosted in at least 23 countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, UK, and USA. Wider coverage, in languages other than English and French, is likely (e.g. in Korean); additional searches will be made in that regard.

Increasing request for information.
