Lead Research Organisation: Queen Mary University of London
Department Name: Sch of Biological and Chemical Sciences

Abstract

Doctoral Training Partnerships: a range of postgraduate training is funded by the Research Councils. For information on current funding routes, see the common terminology at https://www.ukri.org/apply-for-funding/how-we-fund-studentships/. Training grants may be to one organisation or to a consortia of research organisations. This portal will show the lead organisation only.

Title Defect pyrochlore model for RMC calculations
Description A large super-cell (5x5x5) model for the defect fluorite structure A2B2O7 has been developed with random distributions for anions and/or cations. The resulting configurations will be used as multiple starting points for RMC analysis of a variety of pyrochlores showing varying degrees of disorder.
Type Of Material Computer model/algorithm
Provided To Others? No
Impact The development of semi-automatic software for building random and quasi-random structural configurations.

Title SUPGEN and RANDGEN software
Description Software for generating random and quasi random structural configurations for use with RMCProfile
Type Of Material Computer model/algorithm
Year Produced 2013

Description ISIS Young Researcher's Meeting 2014
Form Of Engagement Activity A talk or presentation
Part Of Official Scheme? No
Geographic Reach National
Primary Audience Postgraduate students
Results and Impact My oral/poster presentation sparked discussions among those working in similar areas of research.

After the activity, I was able to network, and talk to, other postgraduate students nation-wide, working across similar areas of research to myself. This enables me to gain a clear bird's-eye view of me research methods, which boosts my satisfaction and self-esteem.
