Neutrino Scattering R&D for CP Violation Searches

Lead Research Organisation: Lancaster University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Abe K (2019) Search for neutral-current induced single photon production at the ND280 near detector in T2K in Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics

Description The data of the novel High-Pressure TPC was analyzed and showed a possibility of using this technology for future experiments. The first result showing how the off-axis proton and pion beams are created and detected was published.
Exploitation Route The HPTPC detector could be used as the prototype for the DUNE near detector. The software and analysis framework could be adapted to be used with new readout electronics.

Results and Impact 25 experts in neutrino interactions attended the workshop. The presentation on the neutrino scattering models I have implemented in the NuWro lead to many questions and discussion about the implication for studies of the low momenta protons, relevant for future High-Pressure TPC detectors.
