Abstract

The UK SRC Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination for the technical development of the UK contribution to the international network of SRCs from April 2021. The position is for an initial 12 months. The role will act as the lead for the UK node of the SRC Network, supporting and coordinating the UK Working Group contributions and ensuring compliance with the SRC global architecture and standards, whilst developing local operational infrastructure commensurate with the scientific needs of the UK SKA community. The role will report to the UK SKA Project Manager and will provide regular updates to the UK SKA Programme Board. The post-holder will be the UK representative on the SKA Observatory's SRC Coordination Committee.
The main functions of this role will be to:

-Coordinate the technical development of the UK SRC to reflect the needs of the UK SKA science community;
-Work with other national SRC leads and SKAO to develop a coherent system architecture for the SRCs that meets the requirements of the stakeholders, whilst still preserving
sufficient diversity for the individual SRCs to take advantage of their local conditions;
-Work with national stakeholders to continually re-examine the requirements for the SRCs;
-Define, along with the SRC governance bodies and the SRC technical teams, a coherent set of measurable technical criteria and service levels that define the accreditation
requirements for SRCs;
-Act as the SKA technical contact for the UK;
-Evaluate and forward-project resourcing for the UK SRC within the UKRI e- Infrastructure landscape;
-Develop a UK SRC Full Strategic Case which will be used to guide a future STFC open call for the development of the UK SRC;
-To coordinate the UK SKA community to participate in UK SRC activities.

Research Technician: The department of Computer Science at UCL provides support to individual projects from a pool of research technicians. Funding for 10% FTE of a technician is requested to cover the costs of helping with software installation and hardware maintenance.

Travel and subsistence: Costs associated with the management of the SRC such as holding required meetings and associated activities.
