| Results and Impact | Lead nurse (Ruth Boyd) and the NI Cancer Forum visiting the School of Maths and Physics to attend a talk on the LhARA project by Prof. Ken Long and Prof. Amato Giaccia (remote) followed by a small group panel discussion between the patient group, Prof. Long, Dr. Charlotte Palmer and her current PhD student (working on complementary activities of plasma acceleration). The visiting patients were very enthusiastic about the project and keen to see local activities at Queen's University Belfast contributing to the development of future treatment technologies. This was followed up with a virtual presentation by Dr. Charlotte Palmer on project developments in May 2023 and plans for a visit by the patient group to the high-power laser facilities at Queen's University that are used for plasma acceleration. |

| Results and Impact | During the LhARA collaboration meeting, members of the NI Cancer Forum were invited to join an outreach talk on developments within the project, and radiotherapy within NI and the UK. Several members of the forum attended, including chairman Aidan McCormick. This provided an opportunity not only for the patient group to receive information on progress within the LhARA project but to engage directly with researchers in the team, share their experiences and provide suggestions. |
