Lead Research Organisation:

Department Name: Sch of Education
Abstract
The research has three objectives:
1. To explore ECT's reasons for becoming a teacher, and their different experiences of being socialised into the teaching profession.
2. To understand how ECTs 'make sense' of their own professional identity as teachers and how they conceive of teaching as a profession.
3. To identify the career trajectories of ECTs, and how such teachers conceive of the notion of 'career'.
