Abstract
The proposed project will dramatically expand our fundamental understanding of designer photonic materials and will bring forward a paradigm in the field of photonic devices: use of correlated disorder as a resource for achieving an ultimate photon-management control over the emission, absorption and propagation of electromagnetic radiation. It will focus on the exploration of hyperuniform and local-self uniform materials for both photonic and plasmonic applicaitons. On the practical side, it will explore applications to novel solar radiation absorbers, optical fibers and novel types of lasers
with improved fabrication tolerance, layout flexibility, isotropy and broad-band operation.
