Abstract

This project aims to explore pedagogical practices in gallery education and art production with a
focus on young people as active actors in the creation of artwork. This research will identify and
articulate a framework for pedagogical practice for producing art with artists and youth in the
gallery, following the work of other practice-based research and the reflections of other
professionals in the sector, with the supervision of Professor Kate Pahl.
This project aims to explore pedagogical practices in gallery education and art production with a
focus on young people as active actors in the creation of artwork. There is a gap in the literature
from studies written by practitioners working within art organisations (e.g. Pringle 2008, Kill 2022),
to artist-led participatory practices (e.g.Kester 2004, Bishop 2012, Helguera 2011).
