Rural Diversity and English Landscapes.

Lead Research Organisation: Newcastle University
Department Name: Sch of Arts and Cultures

Abstract

This project will examine the complexities of access to the countryside for ethnic minority communities. Using innovative practice-led research, creative methodologies and working across critical social science, the research will increase understanding of how cultural organisations can support and increase diversity in rural areas. It will engage with a wide variety of arts practices such as visual art workshops, filmmaking, creative writing and performance-based activity. The project will work collaboratively across the Maltings (Berwick) Trust's extensive rural network, spanning wider Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
