Finding Britain's Late Glacial Hunter-Gatherers: the application of a combined biomolecular approach to Gough's Cave

Lead Research Organisation: University of York
Department Name: Archaeology

Abstract

This PhD project aims to increase our knowledge of one of Britain's most famous Palaeolithic sites - Gough's
Cave - and of Late Glacial populations more broadly, through the application of a multi-methodological scientific
approach to skeletal remains. The studentship will contribute to our knowledge of social, economic and mortuary
practices at a key period within British prehistory, as well as creating a methodological template for the analysis
of prehistoric bone, particularly that which is fragmentary or osteologically unidentifiable.
