Afterword for a key collection of articles about musical creativity. I stressed the extent to which musical creativity is nowadays understood to be social and performative (whereas traditional approaches to musical creativity treat it as individual and grounded in writing); the tensions between this conception and approachsd based on neuropsychology; and the extent to which--regarded as an integral dimension of what it is to be human--the concept of creativity is still useful.
