Here we describe that far from the commonly held assumption that primary phosphines are a dangerous family of chemicals, many in fact are completely air-stable and have potential as industrial catalysts for pharmaceutical production; we also present a rationale as to why some of these compounds are air-sensitive and some are air-stable based on computational methodology.
