Drawing on work done during the AHRC study, this presentation analysed the components of human reasoning in making judgments and decisions in child welfare, identifying the role that can and should be played by formal knowledge such as the results of empirical research, while also acknowledging the roles of intuition and emotions in direct work with children, young people and families.
