Ni-rich cathodes for Li-ion batteries

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sheffield
Department Name: Materials Science and Engineering

Abstract

Ni-rich cathodes present the most promising near-market electrode for Li-ion batteries. Challenges remain in maintaining capacity over multiple cycles, with a dropoff noted for layered Ni-rich materials. This project will develop a suite of concentration gradient cathodes which mitigate this capacity fade and provide longer first-life cathodes for Li-ion batteries. This project is affiliated with the Faraday Institution FutureCat project.
