Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description The idea of air hybrid systems for vehicles is already established. This project demonstrated that by adopting a systematic control method and taking into account the behaviour of the vehicle, a significant fuel consumption reduction could be realised.
Exploitation Route The findings demonstrate the control method that may be employed for a system such as this. The results are open to an engine manufacturer or an organisation whose goal is the integration of engine systems. The results would be particularly appropriate for the passenger buses.
