Hamiltonian truncation

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Mathematical Sciences

Abstract

The project will develop Hamiltonian truncation methods to a much broader class of interesting QFTs than currently understood. In particular plan it will investigate the power of these methods for computing the spectrum of Yang-Mills theories in more than two spacetime dimensions and also apply the truncation methods to supersymmetric theories; these are notoriously difficult to implement efficiently on a lattice and any nontrivial numerical results would therefore be extremely valuable. In this way the project can, for example, test supersymmetric dualities to an unprecedented level.
