| Description | We have identified quantitative trait loci for biomass digestibility in rice. these need to be validated before they can be published or used in breeding, but this is a key first step. Effective protocols for straw saccharification are being established at IFR. Two manuscripts are being prepared for submission based on this work. |
| Exploitation Route | Once validated, the QTL can prove a valuable resource for improving rice straw for biofuels and animal feed applications. We will provide QTL and associated PCR primers to Vietnamese rice breeders for rice improvement. |
