Abstract
This project initiates the development of a innovative Thermal Infrared imaging senor targeted at collision avoidance for autonomous control of vehicles.
The project will be focused on controlled environment of the rail industry where the challenge in operating a rail network 24/7 becomes a trade-off between operator/passenger access and maintenance/renewal of rail infrastructure without compromising the safety of passengers and the workforce. Enhanced flexible working enables maintenance/renewal to be more adaptive and effective in dynamic unspecified environments. The TIR camera proposed here is ideally suited to this task. Any sensor network must be failsafe and include the goal to maintain a flexible and secure environment for the workforce.
